Genee: Utilities for genetic diagnostic professionals
Genee is a free browser extension developed by LGG Hub. It is designed specifically for genetic diagnostic professionals, offering a range of tools to assist with the assessment of genomic regions. With Genee, users can input selected genomic coordinates to quickly generate a list of overlapping cytogenetic bands. Furthermore, the extension allows users to utilize the UCSC genome browser to identify OMIM morbid and ClinGen dosage sensitive genes contained within the selected regions of interest.
One of the standout features of Genee is its ability to generate search queries based on user-generated search terms for a genomic region. This enables professionals to easily describe different types of genomic alterations, such as CNV loss, deletion, microdeletion, loss, or partial monosomy. The tool then combines these search terms into queries that can be used to search for relevant scientific literature via popular search engines like Google, Google Scholar, or PubMed.
In addition to these functionalities, Genee also offers seamless integration with the DECIPHER Genomics Genome Browser. Users can quickly copy all documented phenotypes from any DECIPHER Patient page and format them as a comma-separated list or on individual lines. This makes it incredibly convenient for professionals to gather and organize phenotypic data.
Genee is a valuable tool for genetic diagnostic professionals, providing them with the necessary utilities to streamline their workflow and enhance their research capabilities. Its user-friendly interface and comprehensive features make it a must-have extension for those working in the field of genetic diagnostics.
